Ken doodle!
I was so happy to find this old doodle that my talented artist friend – Ken Wong, did for me a long time ago. I remember it was in his illustration workshop during Animex at my first university, about six years ago! One of his advice for me after seeing my sketchbook was to try and draw characters with ‘thinner’ lines and to build-up form by gentle rendering of these lines. Another one was to draw with the character’s weight/body mass in mind – the balance and strength of their pose have to be convincing. Coca-Cola theme T-shirt design | UNIQLO, UTGP 2012
A while ago I did a T-shirt design for a UNIQLO competition based on the theme of Coca-Cola:
With the aim of incorporating a sense of familiarity and to be fun to look at, the T-shirt design is a visual representation of the familiar Coca-Cola tune/melody that everybody knows. So the notes – if played on a music instrument, would basically sound like: E – C – D – E – C. There is the music stave with the Coca-Cola bottle caps representing these five notes on the top half of the T-shirt. Below are five bottles filled with different amounts of Coke to represent those five notes as well – that if these bottles were to be blown across the top by mouth, they would produce these five sounds. The stave and the bottles are joined together by five straws to show this musical connection.

Was so happy that they finally came to London to perform! The whole experience felt so magical and surreal – the nostalgic melodies playing against large screens showing classic scenes from each game of the Final Fantasy series; Nobuo Uematsu (植松 伸夫) actually sat right behind us for the first half (was SO CLOSE!); and then the best part was meeting him after the show with Arnie Roth and Susan Calloway. They will be performing there again next year – let’s hope they do some good remixes or tunes from The Black Mages next time!

‘Monsieur Lapin avec une bouche sale’ | process
I saw a photo of a cute rabbit! – but with food smeared over its mouth, and thought…the rabbits I usually see are clean and fluffy, but this one has a dirty mouth, how funny. So I thought I’d draw one, but somehow it turned out evil-looking…
